| REFEREES PAGE
We are always looking for a few good referees! A great way to give back to the game or to get involved is to become a rugby referee. Our game uses laws instead of rules, so interpretation is a big part of refereeing rugby. The referee is more of the 'Judge' on the field and less of a cold administrator of rules. He controls the safety and flow of the game.
If you are interested in becoming a referee, we offer courses periodically to certify and educate. Here are a few items to browse before you go any further.

We will offer at least 3 additional referee training courses in 2009. Click the 'Sign Up to Referee' link above to get your name on the list for future courses.
These are Level 1 referee course and L1-L4 Touch Judge course certification courses. The cost is $95. Payment must be cash or check only - checks must be made out to ORRS. This will include all course work and materials.
If you are using the ORU grant program, just have the ORU Treasurer contact Jay Lee. BEFORE attending the course, you should obtain 2008-2009 membership in USARFU (CIPP) and USARRA (not a requirement but no certification without these).
You can do this on-line at: https://membership.usarugby.org/default.aspx
Or if you prefer to send it in:
http://http://www.usarugby.org/media/EDocs/Individual_Registration_20082009.pdf.
Bring proof of this to the course along with a signed waiver if your club doesn't already have a copy. All reservations must be made 2 weeks before the course is offered (The national office requires this so that material can be ordered and shipped). Directions and pertinent information will be sent out the week of the clinic to those who register.
